Rapid rollout of a new app for online magazines at Aller Media

Aller accelerates the expansion of its online magazines with a new partnership with Telmore Play. Fast and efficient integration with a digital microservice architecture.

The challenge

With millions of readers shifting from print magazines to digital experiences, Aller Media A/S needed a higher digital conversion rate, faster go-to-market, and greater efficiency in its digital business.

The solution

Aller modernized its entire platform and architecture to better adapt to the digital market. We helped establish a cloud-based architecture built on microservice principles, enabling faster development and deployment of business services across the company.

One of the key advantages of microservices is that they can be developed, deployed, and reused independently, making them highly adaptable to changing business needs.

The result

Aller is now reaping the benefits of this modernized architecture. By creating a simple business service, Aller was able to seamlessly integrate Telmore with Pling—without requiring complex back-end system integrations.

This rapid time-to-market has significantly increased Pling’s reach, allowing Aller to meet users where they are and provide an improved service.

Behind the solution

Aller Media A/S set out a new cloud strategy. They wanted to build a new architecture, migrate applications, and modernize the platform so it consisted of independent business capabilities implemented as microservices in Microsoft Azure. It was important that the new architecture helped get new products to market quickly.

One of the key properties of microservices is that they can be deployed individually. This gave Aller Media a structure where the company can move a single microservice onto a new technology and see whether the expected benefits of that technology hold up in practice, rather than rolling out all modules in one large release.

At the same time, the architecture is built on the principle of "build once – use everywhere," meaning content can easily be shared across services. This has allowed Aller Media A/S to reduce some of the risks associated with change.

Going forward, the company can more easily introduce and test new ideas and products, because changes in one piece of software don't affect the other components.

The collaboration

At Immeo, we believe that collaboration is key to delivering value in digital transformations. Since 2017, we have worked closely with Aller to build a solid digital foundation, allowing them to launch new digital services faster and more efficiently.

Immeo continues to support us, which is crucial for the future development of Pling.
