A lot has changed since Semler, as the third company in Denmark, purchased a mainframe from IBM back in 1965. While the company has always prioritized the development and operation of business-critical systems, the need for a modernized approach to system architecture and integration has only increased.
To simplify both the IT landscape and business processes, custom-built systems needed to be replaced with cloud-based standard solutions.
Semler initiated a project to identify, acquire, and develop a versatile, modern, and standard-based integration platform to handle processes and data efficiently.
Over the years, we have gained extensive experience in designing and executing integration platforms based on the Microsoft Azure ecosystem.
With the cloud platform, Semler can now take advantage of classic cloud benefits, such as elastic resource scaling, disaster recovery, and security. Additionally, Azure’s intelligent services can be leveraged for applications and data analytics.
The platform was delivered in just five months. Today, development teams no longer need to start from scratch when creating new integration tasks, removing bottlenecks that previously slowed down innovation or led to quick fixes and technical debt.
Now, developers spend more time collaborating with the business, creating the right solutions faster and at a higher quality, supporting Semler’s overall modernization journey.
Together with Immeo, we have built a new integration platform in Azure Integrations. Immeo brings strong technical expertise and a deep understanding of Semler’s business processes. This significantly enhances the quality and time-to-market of our solutions.
The collaboration with Semler Group has been a true partnership, with our team working 1:1 alongside Semler’s architects and developers. We have provided expert guidance on delivery and Azure-based technologies.
Over time, Semler will take full ownership of the platform’s ongoing development, ensuring a smooth transition as their internal teams gain more experience with the platform and surrounding processes.
The first phase, lasting three months, focused on defining governance and processes. This was a cross-disciplinary collaboration between Immeo, Semler’s developers, architects, and business teams.
In the second phase, a representative selection of services and integrations - referred to as ‘pilots’ - was implemented. These pilots provided valuable feedback, allowing us to refine the platform, processes, and organization.
